Located at an altitude of 4,000 metres, Centenario-Ratones is a place where the air is extremely thin and climatic conditions pose major health challenges.
It is also very isolated. The closest hospital is a five-hour drive away.
Preventive measures have been put in place to limit altitude sickness. Eramet has developed a comprehensive plan: each person travelling to the site must undergo a thorough examination. Once on site, a medical check-up is also carried out to ensure that everyone is in good health, and to provide any assistance required. This rigorous procedure ensures the safety of everyone involved.
A hospital functions around the clock and ambulances and planes are ready to tackle any emergency that may arise. The teams are prepared for every eventuality. This approach guarantees rapid response, which is crucial in La Puna.
Each person coming to work on the site is required to undergo a health check-up.
